Great Buddha Statue

Description

The Giant Buddha statue is one of the famous tourist attaraction in Bodhgaya, Bihar (India). The statue is 64.00 ft high in meditation pose (dhyana mudra) seated on a lotus in the open air.

History

The construction of the Giant Buddha statue took seven years to complete with the help of 12,000 workers. It is possibly the largest built in India, It was consecrated on 18 November 1989 by the 14th Dalai Lama. The foundation stone of the statue was placed in 1982.
